Life As Art

26Jan08

Your future is a blank canvas,
Your present is the colour,
Your past is a painting.

Your life is like a piece of art,
Each brush stroke represents a path,
Each colour represents an emotion.

The lose of inspiration is an obstacle,
A painted area is a show of fulfilment,
The empty spaces are what you dream.

A complete portrait defines an achievement,
Some portraits to be proud of,
Others which you would have wanted to do better.

A blank canvas is always waiting to be filled,
So follow your mind and heart,
To paint what could be a beautiful future.

Words by Annie Li

There is no rhyme, no rhythm, no set syllables nor structure. It’s not a limerick, lyric or a sonnet. They are just words put together in hope of being meaningful and inspiring.

  1. I love how you start with the ‘future being a blank canvas’ as it really made me stop and think. There’s a large following in psychology, in which people hold the belief that you are born as a blank canvas, and that your experiences and the behaviour you learn is painted on that canvas.

    It’s very nice anyway.

  2. I like the overall idea… but can’t say much else, as I dislike poetry as a genre. If you decide to rewrite it in prose, I’ll probably read it more carefully, :P

Hah, fair enough. Prose?…hmm. This one isn’t great so turning it into a prose wouldn’t make it any better or any more interesting XD. Trust me. :P
